Small Business Development Center at Schoolcraft College

Schoolcraft College is a jewel of a resource for the community, and the services and programs that it offers are often overlooked. One of those programs is the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The SBDC is designed to help you…

launch a small business, and then to take your operation to the next level of excellence. SBDC offers the following services:

  • Education/Training: Workshops and classes for start-ups and existing small business owners. Information for all available courses can be found online. Classes of particular interest to existing small businesses include Know Your Numbers, Social Media 101 and Business Legal Issues. Classes are the only services that charge a (nominal) fee; all other services are no charge. For a list of available classes, go to the Schoolcraft College SBDC web site:
  • Market Research: The underlying success for businesses of all sizes is information including the size and characteristics of industries, the marketplace, competition, foreign trade, and customer demographics. We provide secondary market research through our subscription databases at no-charge. Information about our market research services can be found on the Small Business Development Center web site:
  • One-on-one Counseling: Meet with experienced consultants to develop growth strategies, prepare a business plan, identify cash flow issues, define and quantify marketing initiatives, or develop sales strategies. For start-ups a draft of the business plan is required prior to receiving counseling services. To request a no-charge counseling appointment, complete the online counseling application.

Of course, if you have any legal questions about starting or operating your business, Creighton McLean & Shea PLC is ready to put its decades of experience to work for you. Please contact us at office or at [email protected]
