Laura Reyes Kopack earned her J.D. degree from the
University of Detroit-Mercy Law School and was admitted to the Michigan
State Bar in 1982. While in law school, she was employed at the City of
Detroit Corporation Counsel. Thereafter, Laura worked at the Detroit
Edison Legal Department and specialized in Litigation, Campaign and
Election, Worker Compensation, and General Business Law and Real
Estate. Ms. Kopack had a private practice specializing in family law
and general practice. She also taught Partnerships and Corporations at
Madonna University as an Adjunct Professor. Laura has volunteered
extensively with non-profit corporations and has served on boards of
directors in the Hispanic Community, the legal community, and political
organizations. Laura joined Creighton McLean & Shea PLC in
August of 1999.
Ms. Kopack's practice includes Family Law,
Adoptions, Juvenile Law,
Probate and some Real Estate and Business Transactions. Laura was
certified by The Mediation Training and Consultation Institute in 2002
and is a member of The Michigan Council for Family and Divorce
Mediation.
Although Laura considers herself a Michigander,
she was born in
Laredo, Texas. She speaks fluent Spanish and considers herself a winter
Texan during the Michigan winters. Laura earned a Bachelor of
Philosophy at Wayne State University while employed full-time and she
is a licensed residential home builder. She attended Rosary High School
and graduated in 1971.
Laura resides with her husband and two daughters
in Livonia. She
continues to volunteer her time to non-profit corporations and
continues her involvement in local and state politics.
